Letter: All pet owners should research 'true agendas' of PETA, HSUS
One of the things that bothered me most about the J&R Outfitters’
situation was the involvement of the Humane Society of the United States and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — and the false information they were spreading about the J&R operations.
It is important that pet owners understand the true agendas of these organizations. HSUS is a completely separate and very different organization from our local humane society. While our local society is a fine organization — active in helping and providing shelter and new homes for abandoned pets — my research indicates HSUS and PETA are radical political organizations that provide no direct support to pets or animal shelters, and actively fight against the individual’s right to pet ownership.
HSUS and PETA trade on their misleading names to raise money from animal lovers to support a political crusade that, in reality, is not in the best interests of pet owners. They collect millions from animal lovers, who erroneously believe they are helping abandoned pets. Every animal lover with access to the Internet should do a Google search for “the future of dogs,” which will lead them to the pet-law.com Web site, where they will find a scholarly dissertation on the future of pet ownership and the very disturbing trends in pet-related legislation.
It also exposes the radical agendas of HSUS and PETA, and explains the real story behind the nice-sounding, but wrong-headed amendment to the Florida constitution we mistakenly passed a few years back. This amendment stupidly banned the use of the farrowing pens that were designed to prevent sows from crushing their piglets.
People need to understand that what these organizations say in their fundraising letters doesn’t necessarily reflect their true agenda and how they really spend your money.
