PostSubject: Springpole   Springpole EmptySat Oct 31, 2009 8:24 pm

Anyone use springpoles? I've been looking into them for months now and I finally decided to make one. Does anyone know some good ways to get them started on it? I've got it set down really low atm just to start off, and then i'll make it higher! I'll post pictures of it later. I'm gunna try and make a weightpull too.. if anyone could give me some tips of the best things to use to make one. Thanks again everyone!

Yes you leave it, some dogs dont take to it, but some will not leave it!

Its recommended u leave it low enough so their back legs can reach the floor, to prevent accidents, but on youtube there are some raised a bit. Suppose it depends on how long the dogs been at it.

It builds their chest muscles, jaw muscles etc.

Cool

You could start with a Flirt Pole, and if they take to that, take the bait off the end and put it onto the Springpole, so they know where and what it is!

You can buy a lunge whip off eBay for £8 pound which works perfectly as a Flirt. Smile

Laughing thats cos she has already had a workout on it,i put one of those square dog mattresses underneath when they are on it.Sometimes they are not intrested, its up to them if they want a work out, saying that Kia would be on it all day,but i limit her to around 10-15mins at one time once a day. Nice vids. I use a flirt pole & springpole for my Aussie Bulldogs & they love it, our newest editon (a 4month old girl) LOVES it though we don't give her too much work on it, she's got a LOT of drive though she's got plenty of growing to do so we keep it low for her to play with. Have it just high enough so their front feet are light on the ground, just enough for them to have to pull it down so they can get a better footing with their front feet & it gives their whole body a work out, especially up front!

I don't have a springpole, but I do have a super bungee plait - which is great! I have no-where for a spring pole, but this can be used indoors.
